Ronald Francis Taylor, Jr.
On Monday, May 4, 2020, Ron Taylor, 81, one of the great leaders and long-time mentors of Troop 3, passed away peacefully at this home, after a battle with Renal Carcinoma.
Ron graduated from Parkersburg High School, class of 1956, in his hometown of Parkersburg, West Virgina. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, class of 1960.
After graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Anne Virginia Goudy, was hired by Proctor& Gamble, and began an adventure that would set them traveling, building, and raising their family.
After 34 years, in 1994, Ron retired from Proctor & Gamble and began to more fully enjoy his true passions in life; his family, golf and the Boy Scouts of America. He was an active member of Boy Scout Troop 3 since as a young boy in 1949 until the day of his death. He had a great love of the outdoors and Scout camping trips and became an Eagle Scout on September 14, 1954. He went on to become Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 3 for over 50 years. Ron hiked several sections of the Appalachian Trail, completed the high adventure trek at the Philmont Scout Ranch, earned his Fifty-Miler Patch, a Silver Beaver, and attended over 500 campfires!
Aside from scouting, Ron held a big place in his heart for his favorite golf course, O'Bannon Creek Golf Club of Loveland, Ohio, where he has served as President of the Club, and enjoyed playing in leagues and tournements with his son, Doug, also an alumni of Troop 3.
